Catalunyan Paradise
Spain is one of more attractive places to spend your summer (or maybe not only summer) holiday in Europe. It is warm most of the year, especially climate on the seaside is pleasant and healthy, there are nice people, fantastic food and wine cheaper then water.

There are a lot of things to see, but we have chosen to spend completely lazy holiday. We chose to enjoy sunshine, swim and suntan. Our budget was limited that year, so we decided to do what we had not done for years - buy a tent and book a place on a camping site. After few days of internet searching we finally found interesting place on Costa Brava, not far from Platja d'Aro, called Sa Cova. It was a camping side just on the sea shore, with small but beautiful beach in a little bay, surrounded by high rocks. A spot of nature near to modern town - as they say. We drove there from UK, what took about 24 hours, and gave us a chance to visit France on our way and experience spectacular views of Massif Central and Pyrenees. What we saw when we got to our camping site was exactly like it was on the website or even better. One can suspect that tour operators or travel agents exagerrate to attract more clients. Not in this case. It was true. The camping site offers enough space for tents as well as for caravans. And from your tent you walk literally a minute to the beach. Just walk down the cliff. The beach is not too big but very attractive. The sea is clear and warm and there are excellent conditions for snorkeling. If you prefer to visit bigger, longer beach, you can get through rocks on the right - there is a little canyon - and you will see longer stretch of sand full of people who probably even don't realize there is that little, exotic paradise behind the cliff you came from. There is another beach further, along the town, and this one is 2 kilometres long. Platja d'Aro is just ten minute walk from the camping. The town offers typical attractions you expect during your holiday. Great range of bars, restaurants and clubs serve food and drinks of local origin as well as international. If you prefer Chinese, Japanese, Italian or just Spanish - you will be catered for. In some places you can choose option eat as much as you can. People on very limited budget or those who just want to prepare something on there own, can buy supplies in one of local shops or even cheaper - in one of hipermarkets, like Aldi. You will get a can of beer for 0.27 Euro or a box of wine for 0.49 Euro! Something better in a bottle costs for example 0.99 Euro. Back at the camping you can fill up in their cafe with snacks, salads or good pizza from the oven. If you are interested not only in leasure you should visit neighbouring S'Agaro and especially Castell d'Aro with its Old Town. For eight days stay for seven people (4 adults and 3 children) we paid bit more than 500 Euros. And we are sure we want to come back there someday. |
